The Pace and Eddings families were a big part of the Highlands community and were missed when the families started moving away. Jerry Don was always the life of the party even though he did have to sneak out of the house to go dancing.
Remember the good times and keep them close to your heart.

My heart is truly saddened to hear of the death of Jerry Don, a very good friend for many years. I will always remember the good times the Pace and Byers families had growing up in Highlands and he was a big part of that. I'll never forget his fun loving ways, and how great it was to be around him. My deepest thoughts go out to all family members. Even though time separates us all, I will certainly miss a real good man.

From a close friend of Jerry's and all the Pace family.

Jerry was the ideal neighbor for a high school guy like me. It seemed like no matter what time I would be getting to my house, he was there to yell across the street. He always had a story to tell me and was always interested in what I was doing. He was a kind man, a caring man, a man that was liked by everyone that ever met him. Even after I left for college, he would always ask my parents how I was doing and would send all sorts of meat to give to me. Jerry was a wonderful man and I will truly miss his company from across the street. A true gentlemen and a wonderful man. John Wilson Neighbor.

Jerry was a very dear neighbor in the true sense of the word. A very rare quality today. Jerry was very giving, especially, when he would have the neighborhood over for his fishfry. Jerry and our son John became very good friends. John would sit outside and visit with Jerry in the early hours of the morning! Jerry would always remember John when he went to school. He would send a Jerry care package to John filled with all kinds of meats. We will miss him yelling across the street "where is rattatuie". Our dog Rizzo and Connie would take a walk and Jerry would say, " I think rattatuie is taking you for a walk". We will treasure the beautiful Christmas card picture we received this past year. God bless Jerry and Ginger nad their beautiful family. Stan and Connie Wilson Neighbors.

Jerry was a kind man and dear neighbor. He always remembered our daughter (Tasha) and always asked about her. He would ask in a way that only Jerry could say, “How’s Tasha? When is she coming home?” She remembered him also and always asked about him.

On Saturday, February 3rd, Jerry phoned our home (calling me by my first name, “Gwendolyn” which really surprised me). He always called me Gwen or Jewel. He invited us over for a surprise. I was truly surprised by the Hog’s head (with teeth and eyes) and shoulder that he shared with our family.

Jerry told me that he knew that we had a friend who cooked wonderful soul food and that he wanted her to prepare some for him. He had specific instructions as to how to remove the hog head from the shoulder. We talked about bacon with the rind on (he said he loved it and that he could chew the rind all day) and about how much he enjoyed fried skins. Our friend prepared a special treat for Jerry. She prepared homemade hog-head-cheese. Jerry didn’t get to taste any of her soul food. We have the hog-head-cheese and would like to share it with his family.

We will certainly miss Jerry’s warm and straight from the heart greetings. We saw him across the street on most days. We always exchanged greetings or a hug or a wave. His warm and positive spirit was welcomed by our hearts and brightened our days. We will continue to look in his direction and will remember his voice filled with fishing and cooking stories. We loved him too. We miss him already.

Jerry was a very dear friend to my family, he was so gracious and kind to my son from newborn throughout his childhood years. Jerry always loved to go fishing with my husband. As they always did, or would always compare there stories, if they went without the other.
We will never forget you Jerry.
My condolances go out to you at this time Ginger, Jennifer, and Jeff.. and your families, our loss is heavens gain. And we can only hope Jerry is enjoying fishing in heaven, as he always joked with Doyle about,
who would get there first to see the BIG LAKE!!
God bless you all.
