Tributes Add Your Tribute
By: Sissi Brackney Aug 26, 2007
I moved to Houston in the early 80's from California. I don't remember how I met Susan, perhaps it was because she phoned me to welcome me to the church. We became good friends. I met her mom, dad and brothers. It was the first family I really got to know in Texas. They made me feel so welcome. I remember we all used to laugh a lot. Especially Susan and me. About everything. They were the kind of family you make movies about. The kind of people you find yourself treasuring and remembering the rest of your life... Just because they made you feel so good. My tribute to Ed would be that he raised with Shirley three wonderful children. Darrell, Susan and Mark, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know what you are going thru. For days, weeks, your mind will play out the memories of your dad and what you remember of the times you shared together. You each will remember what the others have forgotten so take time to sit and share each memory so that those precious times will never be forgotten. I know you will find the laughter for those things he found humor in. Thank God for all that he was to you and others and for his obedience to the Lord. For his service to our country I salute him now. I wish I was there to comfort you but until we meet again and laugh again I will pray that you will find comfort knowing that others really care and that there is a God who knows our every need and whose heart feels what we feel. God bless each one of you.

To the best father anyone could ask for. We will never forget your sacrifice for us and your selfless love you gave all through out our lives as well as the lives of countless others. Now we are charged to pass on your legacy to our children, your grandchildren so a part of you is left in this world.
We love you always and forever.

I remember ED as a very friendly person in business as a fellow sales person out in the field when he worked for Woody Toys. I instantly liked him. He was very outgoing. Later at Crystal Creek Center, I stopped and talked to him . He always made time to do so. At church, we always spoke to each other. I will miss seeing Ed, but I know we will see each other again in a better place.

The world has lost a truely incredible man but has gained an angel for eternity. His smile spoke lounder than his words and in his silence, will continue to echo through all of our hearts.

Charlotte and Children
Ed was a good friend to my husband, Gene Harkins, he was
even a pall bearer at his funeral. He was a good friend
and business partner over the years. He will be missed.
