Tributes Add Your Tribute
By: Kay Weise Nov 25, 2003
Dear Lisa, Julie, and families,

I've loved Mattie for probably 30 or 35 years. She was one of my favorite English teachers when we taught together at CHS, and I've tried to keep track of her through the years since we left there. But I haven't done a very good job, because I didn't even know she was ill (though I did know of her chronic problems). She suffered grief that I've never known, losing a child and then her husband. But she remained the constant heart-happy, smiling, gentle, and loving spirit through it all. And now she's sharing her love and smiles with Bill and Max once more. I'll bet God is really glad to have her up there, and He knows how much we'll miss her. Even though I didn't see her often, I will miss her. She had a spot in my heart all her own, and that little spot will be empty until I see her again. My heart and prayers are with all of you.

Love, Kay

Dear Julie, Lisa, and family,

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I always thought she was such a wonderful friend to my mom and dad (Tom and LaNelle). She was such a kind and loving person, always easy to strike up a conversation with, and so proud of her family. I know she is chatting away with mama and daddy and catching up on old times now! I just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you and remembering all of you in my prayers. With love, Nancy Fair Gillen
