To the family- well y'all all obviously know i met the family through Michael. I came to know Mr.Barksdale as a honest, funny, and loving person. I remember last summer when I joined the family in Galveston... CRABBING- what an experience. I never really understood why Mike enjoyed it so much (it's actually fun!!!) But now that i look back on the experience i've came to realize i think what Mike really enjoyed was the time with his family. After crabbing i wanted to help clean the crabs (i wanted the entire experience)... Then i remember sitting along side of Mr.Barksdale eating the gumbo-- I NOW KNOW HOW TO EAT A CRAB THE RIGHT WAY. Although i have more mememories through baseball games and just seeing Mr.Barksdale at your homes i understand that if he impacted my life as much as he did then all of your lives have been touched in an enourmous way... and although Mr.Barksdale is no longer physically here I am lucky enough to get a piece of him everyday through Michael... Besides Mike telling me how much Mr.Barksdale did for him its obvious... Mike is the almost the same person...HONEST FUNNY AND LOVING... Before i left the hospital early in November the last thing Mr.Barksdale said to me was "Take care of him, (Mike)" and i want y'all to know I WILL! I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

We got to know Mr. and Mrs. Barksdale through baseball. They were a part of the Willis baseball family as they were almost always there at Jesse's and Mike's games. Only illness kept them away. Our sons, Andrew and Brett, have played baseball with Jesse and Mike for many years. We have so many good memories of the many days and nights at the ballpark that we have spent together. I especially remember the game with Oak Ridge last May. I was sitting next to Mr. Barksdale. Willis had to win to have a chance to make the playoffs. We were behind by several runs. Mr.Barksdale was very positive and predicted that Willis was going to rally and win! And in a very exciting comeback, they did just that! He was a kind man and he will be greatly missed by the entire Willis baseball family.
