Mrs. Goodlett, I do not know if you remember my daughter Melissa Stewart and myself. But we remember you and all the kindness that you gave us at Lynn Lucas as Melissa's counselor. We are both very sorry to hear of your loss of your husband. Our prayers are with you and your family thru this very difficult time. I feel your pain after burying my husband, Melissa's daddy 4 years ago this month. You have many wonderful memories to rely on to carry you thru all of this. God's love will be like a warm blanket around you at this time, just trust in him as I know that you will and always remember "God makes no mistakes". Love, Debbie and Melissa

You were a dear friend and will be terribly missed. You always made me and my family feel welcome at the station and gave us all many times of laughter. Our condolences and prayers are with Sharon and your boys.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your love one. I did not know Gary personally but knew of some of his teammates one of which I played with at Sam Houston State, Chuck Hill. I played High School football at Booker T. Washington and enjoyed a great relationship with the Conroe Tigers football Team and coaching staff. May god continue to bless his family. I know your pain. On July 8th, 2003 I lost my wife of 33 years, a former Conroe High School graduate. I will pray for you and please pray for me. God Bless.

I realized that we had an error in getting dad's obituary posted in The Courier and this resulted in the word not getting spread around in addition to it in the proximity of July 4th. Below I posted the eulogy that I gave for dad. Please enjoy.

Our dad.

I cannot imagine the world without the gentle, benevolent presence of my loving father, but yet it has happened. I miss him more than words can express. My father was a brilliant man, yet humble, selfless, and honorable. Dad always looked and acted 20 years younger than he was. Who could ask for a better legacy?

I just wanted to say I have you and your family in my Prayers. Gary and his sister and Mom and Dad were friends with my Mom and Dad and Sisters ever since I was a little girl. He will be missed alot. He was a Great person and they are right when they say he never met a stranger. My sister Debbie and I are members of the Montgomery County Fair (Gate Committee). One of the things we always looked foward to was lunch at fair time that Gary and his team always prepare for the committee. He was a great cook. Seeing Gary at the fair always brought back fond memories from my childhood days when we would all get togather and Bar-b-que or Fry Fish at our house when we lived at Browns Trailer Park. Again Gary will be missed alot.

Your Friend,

My thoughts and prayers are with Debbie and her mother, Velma Goodlet and the entire family. I work with Debbie at Park Manor Nursing Home and I have taken care of Mrs. Goodlet as well over the past several months. Debbie is an excellent nurse and has been a good friend to me. I know this has been such a difficult time for the entire family and I just wanted Debbie to know how much we love her at Park Manor.

Dear Sharon,

Dean and I want to express our deepest sympathies to you, Ryan, Lisa and Brandon. As always, Mom keeps me posted on the news at the Goodlett camp, as she has thru the years bent your ear on the activities in our lives. It has been with heavy hearts that Dean and I have prayed for you and Gary over the past three months. In some small way I hope to believe that our continued prayers for you and the boys somehow will help y'all thru this sad and difficult time.

God Bless. Love, Dean, Sandra and Christopher Gracia

Mrs Goodlett&Debbie: Here's wishing you all of God's blessings during these trying times. Your entire family was a joy to know from our church and in our community. I will never forget you teaching our class in vacation bible school and having Debbie help you, then always remaining such a positive part of my life. You are both angels and Lord knows I have needed them because it has taken a bunch of them. I will also be forever grateful to Gary and the Class of 1966 "My other senior class" having graduated in 1972, a miracle in itself, for always taking care of, thanks to my sister Cheryl Jeffrey, her brother (Little Jeffrey). Many was the time when I was walking home down Longmire Road on a dark night and have a car pull up and have someone say, "Hop In Little Jeffrey, we're taking you home." For quite a few years, there was always a "66" popping up somewhere when I needed them the most. Could have used them a bunch these last 40 years. Gary, You've been taken home now and I'm sure you're telling Johnny Munoz and Joe Michael Copeland what a great job they did in Nam. Conroe has lost something every year since those days of "The Real Tigers" You gave some of us younger guys something special we will take with us forever from the best of times. Thankyou Mrs Goodlett and Debbie for sharing Gary with us and giving so faithfully of yourselves. I'm sure the entire Chuber family shares in these sentiments. Love And Best Wishes, David Chuber

Dear Sharon and Brandon,

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I know you will miss your husband and dad so much but knowing he is now at peace is a blessing.

When I think of your family, I immediately think of pride and Conroe Tiger Football!! Those were awesome memories that we all shared together and Gary always had a smile and friendly gesture to give.

Sharon, as we spoke last about Gary's illness I shared with you about Mother's. I remember telling you she passed away 3 weeks after finding out about her liver cancer but that every individual is different and that Gary is in God's hands. Two years this month she is with the Lord just as Gary now is.... May you, Brandon and your family find comfort in knowing that.

All my love and prayers,

Cindy

Dear Mrs. Goodlett and family, my family and I wish to offer our condolences during this difficult time. I had the privilege of practically growing up knowing Gary since I was childhood friends with the Nunns. It was an even greater honor to join the HFD and be assigned to the same district and shift as Gary. I don't think anyone will ever meet a more genuine person. And funny? Forget about it. You could not cross paths with Gary without feeling a huge smile break out all over your face. He will be dearly missed by all. I won't pray for Gary, for I am certain he is at peace. My thoughts are for the family and friends he has left behind. God bless. Shane Wilburn and family.
