A memorial service for William Earl Gensbigler, 80, of The Woodlands will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 2 pm in The Woodlands United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Lewis officiating.
Mr. Gensbigler passed away on August 16, 2006 at The Woodlands Hermann Memorial Hospital, a victim of West Nile Virus. Bill was born on April 15, 1926 in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Har-Brack High School in 1944, he joined the US Army and served in the European Theater during WWII. After returning home to western Pennsylvania, Bill attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, married Polly, his wife of 53 years, became a small business owner and an interior decorator, and lovingly raised two daughters.
Having shoveled enough snow, Mr. Gensbigler moved to The Woodlands in 1993. Bill was an active member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his family, quilting, creating greeting cards, hosting parties, gardening, and visiting Cancun.
His parents, Earl and Gertrude Gensbigler, and his wife, Pauline Miller Gensbigler, all preceded him in death. He is survived by his elder daughter and her husband, Terry and Charlie Contant, of Niantic, Connecticut; his younger daughter, Kathie Gensbigler, of The Woodlands; and by his granddaughters, Amber Gensbigler and Heather Contant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Church Foundation, The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380.
