Funeral services for John Vaughn Bergman Sr., 86, of Conroe will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Father Hubert Keely officiating. He will be laid to rest in Garden Park Cemetery next to his second wife, Susie (Lola) Bergman. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 18, 2006 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Bergman was born on November 10, 1919 in Cuero, Texas and passed away on August 15, 2006 in Conroe, Texas. He attended Rice University on a track scholarship. He served in World War II as a B-25 instructor pilot. Following WWII, John was a devoted employee of Baker Oil Tools for 40 years. His career began in local sales and he eventually was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the Southeastern United States. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Panorama Village Country Club.
He will be dearly missed. John’s family and friends will best remember him as an independent and strong man.
John is survived by his son, John V. Bergman, Jr. (age 60) from his first marriage to Claire Bergman of Kerrville, Texas; his two grandchildren, Julie Bergman (age 30) and John V. Bergman, III (age 25); and his dear friend, Ione White. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N. Frazier, Conroe, TX 77301.
