Mary Katherine Garner, age 88, of Missouri City, Texas peacefully passed away early Sunday morning, August 20, 2006 due to complications from pneumonia. Heaven is a little brighter with our mom’s arrival.
Mary was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on the 23rd of September, 1917, the only child of George and Edyth Urschel. She moved to Texas at an early age and graduated from San Jacinto High School. Mary met Robert A. Garner, Sr. and they were married on June 5, 1943. Mary and Robert had 3 children, June, Robert Jr. and Thomas. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Edyth Urschel. Also preceding her was her loving husband, Robert A. Garner, Sr. on November 13, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, June Roberts and husband Charles of Montgomery, Texas; sons, Robert A. Garner, Jr. and wife Sandy of Missouri City, Texas and Thomas L. Garner of Sugar Lane, Texas; granddaughters, Christy Stanley and husband Chet and daughter, Cori, and Sherrie Roberts and husband John and daughters, Kasie, Kealie and Kayden. Many friends and family in Texas, Illinois and Ohio also survive. Pallbearers will be Charles Roberts, Bill Schmidt, A.J. Rojas, Darren Georgous, James Georgous, and Steve Stedman. Honorary pallbearer is David Shirey.
We would like to “Thank” all the staff at Optimum Personal Care Home for their loving care and support. Also, we would like to “Thank” everyone for all their prayers for our mother throughout the years.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2006 in Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 24, 2006 in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Chaplain Tim Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
