Edgar Glen Colby, 78, of Conroe passed from this life to join The Savior on Monday, September 4, 2006. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Maddoux and Rev. Robert Nichols officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Mr. Colby was born December 2, 1927 in Eunice, Louisiana to Ira Glen and Lorena Pommier Colby and graduated from Conroe High School in 1944. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII, and then married Alta Benita Harper on February 29, 1952. He retired from Superior Oil Company after a career of over 37 years. After retirement, he also was a consultant for Mobil Oil Company for a number of years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only sister, Cora Mae “Corky” Williams and a nephew, Dennis Russell Williams.
Surviving him is his wife of 54 years, “Benny” and his children Glen Colby and wife Cheryl, Muffet Broadrick and husband Jon, Alan Colby, Dale Colby and exchange student Pascale Guena and husband Arnaud. Grandchildren include Cory Colby and wife Melinda, Caren Colby, Caylen Colby, BethAnn Storm and husband Sam, Lara Broadrick, Chloe Colby, Hannah Colby, Grace Colby and Reina Mann. Great grandchildren include Maranda Hammons, Brianna Mann, Juli Colby, Alex Colby and another great granddaughter due in November. Also surviving him are nieces, Jamie Bright and Merri West, along with many other loving relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Cory Colby, Caylen Colby, Jim DesHotel, Charles Gullett, Bill Keener, and Bill Walker.
