Funeral services for Dr. Frank Birdwell, of Willis, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2006, prior to services.
Dr. Birdwell was born December 12, 1931 in Crane, Texas and passed away September 23, 2006 in Conroe, Texas. Survivors include: Wife; Emma Louise Birdwell, former wife, Carol Lee Birdwell, Daughters; Lynn Diane Birdwell of Houston, TX, Ann Denise Birdwell of Nederland, Texas, Amy Sue Birdwell of Charlottesville, VA, Beth Elaine Frizzell and husband Troy of Austin, TX and Julie Annette Earley and husband Donovan of The Woodlands, TX, Sons; James Allen Birdwell and wife Angela Jean of Willis, TX and Dan Edwin Birdwell and wife Urshella M. of Idabel, OK, Step Daughter, Andrea Courtin and husband Adam of Houston, TX and Step Sons; Albert Allen Jackson and wife Dolly of Austin, TX and Dean Carl Jackson of Austin, TX and Brother, James Cleveland Birdwell of Liberty, TX, Twenty-Two Grandchildren and numerous other friends and relatives also survive.
After serving his country in the Navy during the Korean War, he earned a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering at UT Austin. He was a Professor at Louisiana State University, then, worked at Getty Oil and Texaco. He retired after 30 years in the Oil Industry, to fish.
