Reginald (Reggie) A. Simmons was born in Vernon,Texas July 3, 1920 to Howard D. Simmons and Alpha Corzine Simmons and went to be with the Lord Jesus on September 27, 2006. He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita F. Simmons and many beloved family and friends. Reggie is survived by his daughter, Laura Paulette Dare of Port Lavaca Texas; son, Dr. Kim Simmons of Victoria Texas; granddaughter, Brandi Sanders of Port Lavaca; grandsons Randy Barfield, William Simmons and Michael Simmons of Victoria Texas, and numerous great grandsons. Reggie is also survived by his step-brother, Richard (Dick) Nutter and step-sister, Joyce Nutter, of Conroe Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Reggie was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Conroe, but after moving to Victoria he attended Fellowship Bible Church of Victoria. Reggie worked as a business owner and banker in Conroe. He retired as a Senior Vice President from the Bank of America in Conroe. Reggie was a member of the Rotary Club of Conroe for many years. Reggie served as the Chairman of the United Way Campaign in Conroe and also was active in the Conroe Chamber of Commerce. Reggie was a member of the Conroe Masonic Lodge.
Reggie served as a crew chief in the 57th Fighter Group in North Africa during World War II. Reggie received a purple heart for injuries received during his service. Reggie loved people. He enjoyed times spent with family and friends hunting and fishing. He was the chief cook for the bank and won first place in the barbecue cook off at the Montgomery County Fair. He played a mean hand of gin rummy and even appeared in a Kodak television commercial. Dad will be missed, but his family rejoices to know that he is absent from the body, but present with the Lord.

Memorial services for Reggie will be at Cashner Funeral Chapel in Conroe, Texas at 3 PM Monday, October 2, 2006 and at Fellowship Bible Church at 4 PM Tuesday, October 3, 2006.
