Graveside services for Doris Terry, 91, of Conroe will be held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 1 p.m. in Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas with Rev. Sam Jones officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Terry was born Doris Eva Hunter on August 12, 1915 in Pleasant Grove, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on November 2, 2006 in Conroe, Texas during her sleep.
Doris grew up in rural Louisiana during very hard times. Her father taught school and farmed. She knew how to pick cotton at an early age. Doris graduated from Noble, Louisiana high school. She was one of six children. One surviving brother lives in Shreveport. She went to church when the preacher came to the community. Bible reading and prayer was a regular evening event in their home. She was a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Houston where she taught Sunday School.
Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edgar Leverkuhn; second husband, Chester Terry; and her son, Charles Wayne Leverkuhn. She is survived by her daughter, Eunice Wilson of Conroe; grandchildren, David Glenn Wilson and wife Jane of Dallas and Darryl Wayne Wilson and wife Marianne of Conroe; great grandchildren, Clark and Matt Wilson of Dallas and Travis and Conner Wilson of Conroe.
