Burr Canada died peacefully at home on November 21, 2006, two weeks after celebrating his 79th birthday.
Burr was born November 8, 1927 in Hughes, Arkansas to B. H. and Lonette Canada. The family moved to Conroe in 1935. After graduating from Conroe High School in 1944, Burr worked with his father at Canada & Son Grocery until beginning his naval service in 1945. Upon return, Burr attended Sam Houston State College where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Martha Jane.
After a career in the insurance business in which he won national sales awards, Burr joined the Goodyear Service store in Conroe, retiring after 22 years. Burr also served Conroe as a city councilman and spent his retirement years operating Canada’s Bookstore at the original site of Canada & Son Grocery.
Burr has been blessed with a wonderful family consisting of his wife, Martha Jane, who preceded him in death in 1999; sons, James, David, Mark, and Mike; daughter-in-law, Dee; grandchildren, Kevin, Cara, Joel, and Grayson; and great grandchildren, Koltin, Kaden, and Madeline Claire.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, November 26, 2006 from 2 to 6 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. John Taylor officiating.
