Graveside services for Anson “Andy” Gordon Andrist, 85, will be held on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. in Houston National Cemetery.
On December 19, 2006 Andy passed away at his home in Willis, Texas. He was born March 12, 1921 in Jacksonville, Florida. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. He then joined the U. S. Air Force in June 1955 until his retirement in September 1970 as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. During his military career, he served in World War II as well as two tours in Vietnam. His most memorable times were Defense Communications Agency, Project Officer for the Germany/France Microwave and Radio Relay System, Chief of Communications Maintenance Quality Control Division and Commander of communications detachment in Northern I Corps, Republic of Vietnam.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Victor Andrist, mother, Georgie Andrist, and sister, Cynthia Given. He is survived by his wife, Sidney G. Andrist; son, Harry Andrist and wife Charlotte; daughters, Linda Andrist-Hereford and her husband Russell, Kim Andrist, Sheryl Andrist, and Amy Chatman and her husband Charles; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 6301 Richmond Ave., Houston, TX 77057.
