Jack Thomas Garrett, born to Ernest and Dora Lee Garrett on June 20, 1929 in Angelina County, passed away Friday, February 23, 2007 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 77.
Mr. Garrett owned Garrett Real Estate in Conroe, Texas for over thirty years. He served as the President of the Conroe Real Estate Board and the District Governor of District Seven for the Texas Real Estate Association. He also served on the City of Conroe Planning Commission for twenty-seven years and was a board member of the Montgomery Central Appraisal Review Board. Mr. Garrett volunteered for many years with the Montgomery County Center for the Retarded and supported the youth of Montgomery County through the Montgomery County Fair. He was also very active in local elections and was a member of the Conroe Masonic Lodge #748 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Garrett was survived in death by his devoted wife of 57 years, Laverne Garrett; loving children, Karan Jackson (Billy), Sharan Garrett (fiancé Les Maybin), Tammi Vela (Joseph), Tisch Parks (Bill), and Mark Garrett; loving grandchildren, Billy Brumbaugh (Amanda), Jason Brumbaugh (Megan), William Jackson (Shelley), Jacqualine Garrett, Brent Vela, Garrett Parks, Jesse Vela and Matthew Parks; eight great grandchildren; brother, Edward Garrett (Cleo); sister, Rozelle Davis; and eight nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Dearing Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
