Funeral services for Floyd Gene Smith, 79, a long time resident of Conroe will be held on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bob Seal officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 3 to 6 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born October 24, 1927 in Houston, Texas and went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2007 in Conroe, Texas.
Floyd served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a truck driver with Conroe Creosote from which he retired after many years of service. He went on to establish Western Water Well Service back in 1985. He was an active member of the New Horizon Church of the Nazarene.
Floyd loved hunting and fishing and he cherished his loving memories of his family. Floyd’s parents, Burlon and Eula Mae Scroggins Smith, sister, Gladys Yarbrough, and brother, James W. Smith, all preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria Smith of Conroe; sons, Preston Smith and wife Pam, David Smith and wife Christine, and Tracy Smith and wife Elena; brothers, Herman Franklin Smith of Houston and Burlon Smith of El Campo; eight grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren, including foster children; and special friends, Maurine and Tex Taylor. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Smith, Shawn Smith, Anthony Smith, Christopher Smith, Steven Smith and Kirk Smith.
