J. R. Wallace, 57 of Conroe, passed away January 31, 2002 in Houston, TX. J.R. Was born November 8, 1944 in Lake Village, Arkansas.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, February 4, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Joe Bogue officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Joplin, MO. Mr. Wallace served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was selected to serve as one of the color guard during the funeral of President John F. Kennedy. He and his wife Marsha owned and operated El Pollino Mexican Restaurant in Conroe for many years.
J.R. is survived by his wife, Marsha of Conroe; 3 step-daughters, Rebecca Waldron and husband Sean of Willis, Texas, Julie Robertson and Emily Robertson both of Conroe, Texas; sisters, Bonnie Dorthrup of Crescent City, California, Billie Sue Bonner of Fordyce, Arkansas, Allene Carter of Crossett, Arkansas, Clara Waits of Springfield, Louisiana; brothers, Ben Wallace of St. Martinville, Louisiana, Clifton Wallace and his wife Eva Lou, who was "2nd Mom" to J.R., of Oklahoma City, Melvin Wallace of Katy, Texas and Roger Wallace of Medford, Oregon; grandchildren, August, and Clover; many very special nephews, and a host of other loving extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the J.R. Wallace Scholarship Fund at 1st National Bank, Texas, 704 E. Davis, Conroe, Texas 77301.
