Graveside services will be held at Conroe Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, February 23, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. for Mary Louise Baylor. Mrs. Baylor was born on July 4, 1913 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and passed away at her home in Conroe, Texas on February 21, 2002. Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2002 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. With the family receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Baylor is survived by a daughter Katherine Kendall Baylor; a son, Raymond V. Baylor and wife Karla; step-grandson, Michael Tod Stafford, wife Jamie and daughter, Katlin; step-granddaughter Kari, husband Mike Roberson and children, Sarah, Zechariah and Isabella; and faithful nurse, companion and friend Lilly Mendoza.
In 1937 Mr. And Mrs. Baylor transferred to Conroe with the Sun Oil Company. In 1943 Mr. Baylor took a position with Chiang Kai-Shek's Nationals Government as Production Engineer. They lived near the borders of Tibet and Mongolia. Mr. Baylors job was to keep the oil flowing to Chiangs forces and Mrs. Baylor taught English to the Chinese. This was the beginning of Mrs. Baylors many years as a teacher. In 1949 the Baylor family was told to travel to Shanghai to be evacuated before the country fell to Mao Zedongs Communist forces. They arrived just in time to board the last plane out of Shanghai. The Baylor family returned to the United States and Conroe. Mrs. Baylor taught 24 years in the Conroe Independent School District. She dearly loved teaching her students and her many pets.
