A memorial service for August "Gus" Barone, 74 of Montgomery, beloved husband and father will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2002 in the Cashner Colonial Chapel with son, Randy Barone officiating.
Gus was born December 1, 1927 in Hoboken, New Jersey and passed away March 6, 2002 in Montgomery. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a World War II veteran and was stationed on 8 different vessels and received 4 medals of Honor. He worked in the auto industry until his retirement at age 62. He then got bored with retirement and took on a part time job as a door greeter at the Conroe Wal-Mart.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine Barone of Montgomery; daughters, Doreen King and husband Glenn of Montgomery, Linda Schwaiger and husband Edward of Conroe; sons, Frank Barone and wife Patti of Palm Springs, California, August Barone and wife Debra of Katy, Randy Barone and wife Cindy of Kingwood; sister, Anita Peluso of Hoboken, New Jersey; brother, Jerry Barone and wife Nettie Hollywood, Florida; grandchildren, Brannon King, Misty Irby, Tiffany King, Leon Mitchell, Jason King, Kristen Barone, April Mitchell, Linda Nicole Bourland, Dusty Heindl, Ryan Barone, Aubrey Barone, Taylor Barone, Ian Barone and great-grandchildren, Bryce Irby, Kaitlyn King and Brody King. Gus is also survived by many other loving family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
