Clarence ("Cas") H. Castle, 81, of Panorama Village, passed away on February 11, 2002. Cas was born and raised on a farm near Athens, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. During World War II, he served as a weather forecaster in the United States Air Force. Subsequent to the military service he spent three years with the United States Department of Agricultures County Extension Service located in Illinois. In 1949 he entered the insurance business and relocated to Iowa. In 1961, he established Castle & Dick, a general insurance agency, with Charles Dick of Hampton, Iowa.
In Hampton he served as President of the Kiwanis Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the board of Hampton Development Corporation. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and the Shrine Arabic Temple. The El Kahir Shrine awarded him a plaque for his contribution to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conroe and Panorama Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Lucile. They were married fifty-five years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Sherry and husband Douglas Whitley, and Nance and husband K. Michael Mayes; five grandchildren, Julia, Elliot, Florence, Krista and Hunter. He is also survived by his two sisters, Clara and husband Ralph Lake, and Mary Wise. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jane.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church of Conroe at 2:00 p.m. With Cashner funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
