Funeral services for Roy Mowdy are scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Gene Kendrick and Rev. John Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2002 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Mowdy was born on December 11, 1922 in Colgate, Oklahoma and passed away on June 25, 2002 in Conroe, Texas. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy, coached Little League baseball in Malvern, Arkansas, and attended Mims Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Ann Messick and husband David of Cypress, Catherine Alice Robinson and husband Gene of Wimberley, Julia Elizabeth "Lisa" Mowdy of Conroe, and Sharon Hovey and husband Marshall of Avon, Connecticut; sons and daughters-in-law, "R" Max Morrison and wife Leah of Casselberry, Florida, Mike Roy Mowdy and wife Lyn of Cut-n-Shoot, Marty Mowdy and Tedra Bird of Spring and Jeff Mowdy of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Nadine Kissel of Limon, Colorado; brother, Donnie Lee Mowdy of Ashland, Kansas; fifteen loving grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Pall bearers are David Messick, Gene Robinson, Joshua Messick, William Hill, Johnny Burleson, and David Howell.
