Funeral services for George D. Jones, 75 of Conroe, will be held on Monday, November 11, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery with a private graveside service for family only. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, November 10, 2002 from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
Mr. Jones was born on August 26, 1927 in Orange, Texas and passed away on November 7, 2002 in Conroe, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served his country during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Conroe Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jones of Conroe; daughters, Sharon Berry and husband Joey of Pasadena, Debbie Blane and husband Steve of Newman, Georgia, Melisa Jones of Conroe, and Sharla Davis of Hackettstown, New Jersey; and fourteen grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be W. R. Wilkens, Gerald Creighton, Dr. W.D. Wilkerson, Leonard Price, C.J. Faulkner, and Dick Nutter. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Tannery, D.B. Waller, Jon Look, Glenn Blane, Cecil Joiner, Jim Pokorski, Bill Perry, Gerald Hasara, The Doers Sunday Class of First Baptist Church, and the Early Morning Golfers at Conroe Country Club.
