Graveside services for Ruth Decker of Conroe will be held Saturday January 11, 2003 at 2:00p.m. in Garden Park Cemetery with Dr. Rick Young officiating. Visitation will be Friday January 10, 2003 in Cashner Colonial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Decker was born December 18, 1910 in Seymour, Texas and passed away January 3, 2003 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 92 as the result of a major stroke. Ruth, a graduate of Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, came to Conroe with her husband Herbert in 1961. She served in many local and regional civic organizations as well as her church, First Presbyterian Church of Conroe. Her generous and attentive spirit has influenced the lives of young people and peers throughout her church and community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Decker. Survivors: Nieces Gerry Wilson Buchholz and husband Art of San Clemente, California and Janice Wilson McGowan of Amarillo, Texas. Great nieces Diane Fratt Morrison and husband John of Virginia and Laura Buchholz of Austin, Texas. Great nephews David Fratt and wife Kristine of Missouri City, Texas and Brian Buchholz and wife Mary of Virginia. Seven Great Great nieces and nephews also survive.
Her stated request was that any memorial gifts be designated to the Presbyterian Children?s Home and Service Agency, 4207 Bee Caves Rd. #520, Austin, Texas 78746.
