Verna Lynn Roy Baines, loving mother and grandmother, passed on Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Conroe, Texas. Lynn was born September 6, 1919 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1937.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Taylor Manderscheid of Houston; daughter, jenny Taylor Williams; step-daughter, Kay Pursley; and son, Ralph Maxwell Taylor, Jr., all of Conroe; grandchildren, Kevin Manderscheid, Shawn Manderscheid, Barry Laminack, Angela Robbins and husband Brandon, Shawna Matherne and husband Robbie, Kimberly Sue Taylor, and trey Alexander; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Baines, Sr. and parents Earnest Lynn Roy and Ethel Lucille Roy.
She owned and operated Lynn's Floral Shoppe in the Oak Forest area of Houston for 15 years and was a real estate agent with her daughter's company, Manders Realty in Houston and Century 21 in Conroe. Lynn lived in Conroe for 30 years. In previous years, she was very active in her church, First Church of Christ, Scientist of Conroe and her homeowners association. She was an accomplished artist, musician, floral design teacher and doll maker. She and her late husband were avid ballroom dancers and won many competitions. Her enthusiasm, love of life and devotion to her faith was an inspiration to her family and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel, 801 Teas Rd., Conroe, Texas with Reader Terry Crandall officiating. Interment to follow in Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 5, 2003 from 9:00 a.m. Until 9:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Shawn Manderscheid, Brandon Robbins, Paul Paske, Robbie Matherne, Barry Laminack, and Truman Laminack, Jr.
