Mildred Ruth (Schuh) Schneider passed away May 4, 2003. Millie was born April 23, 1913 in Canal Winchester, OH to Reverend Frederick Otto Schuh and Edith M. Watson Schuh. Revered Schuh founded several Lutheran churches in the Columbus, OH area before moving his family to Pittsburgh, PA. Millie attended the University of Pittsburgh and was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She married Harry P. Schneider, Jr. of Pittsburgh in 1935 without graduating from Pitt. In 1952, the Schneider family moved to Houston where Mr. Schneider started Industrial and Shippers Supply in 1954. Upon Mr. Schneider's death in 1984, Millie became chairman of the company.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Margaret Broderick and Dorothy Zeisler; and her son, Frederick Otto. She is survived by her sister, Edna Virginia Rhea, of Howe, Texas; and sons, Harry P. Schneider, III of Hunt, Texas, and Thomas L. Schneider of Humble, Texas. She loved her family very much. She was especially proud of her 8 grandchildren, Celise Schneider Rappaport, Michael T. Schneider, David Glenn Schneider, Maryanne Schneider, Austin W. Schneider, Bradford T. Schneider, Lisa Delaney Murphy, Rachel Delaney Krenek; and of her great-granddaughter, Stephanie Schneider.
Millie finally finished her undergraduate degree at U of H in 1970 and was a substitute teacher for many years. She loved her long life and lived it very well, still playing golf at age 89 at Walden on Lake Conroe where she was a member for 25 years. She was the first president of the Walden LGA and was always active at her club. She was also an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Conroe and regularly attended bible studies there. Millie was a wonderful character who always spoke her mind, including keeping track of everyone's strokes in her foursome, occasionally under protest.
Her grace and dignity through the last 7 months of her life were remarkable. She taught us all how to face death with courage and faith.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 6, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church, 13123 Hwy. 105 West, Conroe, TX with Pastor Mike Rinehart, Officiating. Interment will be next to her beloved husband of 49 years in Garden Park Cemetery, Conroe, TX. We pray that she will rest in peace and know that she has been welcomed into God's Kingdom.
