Victor Arnold Schindler went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2003 in Ft. Worth, TX. Victor was born in Valley Falls, Jefferson County, KS on July 26, 1919 to Arnold John and Sophia Stuber Schindler. He graduated Central High School, Topeka, KS in 1938, working for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS. During WWII he worked at Brookley Field in Mobile, AL where he met his bride, Mary Jeanette Lewis, marrying her on November 16, 1942. Victor moved with his wife Mary, and daughter Sandra to NYC in 1946 and worked for Revlon Cosmetics. One son, Raymond, was born to Victor and Mary on January 13, 1948. In 1949, Victor relocated his family to Saraland, AL, and while there he and his family came to know the Lord at Shiloh Baptist Church. In 1957, Victor moved his family to Houston, TX, worked in avionics for Texas International Airlines which later became Continental Airlines, served as a deacon at Eastwood Baptist Church and Riverview Baptist Church('57-'73), and First Baptist, Houston('73-'84). After retiring in 1984 from Continental Airlines, he and Mary moved to Spring, TX. Victor was a charter member of Woodlands Parkway Baptist Church('84-'88), attended Encourager Church ('89-'91), Houston, and Abundant Life Assembly, Woodlands('91-'98). Vic and Mary resided with son Ray and wife in the Woodlands ('96-'98) then moved to Ft. Worth, TX with daughter Sandra and husband ('98-'03).
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jeanette Lewis Schindler; daughter, Sandra DeLoach and husband Roy of Ft. Worth, TX; son, Ray Schindler and wife Susie of Willis, TX; sister, Hilda McLeod of Lake Ridge, VA; 8 grandchildren, Kira Mason of Madrid, Spain, Danielle Boozer of Weimar TX, Dawn Ross of Ft. Worth, Analiese Schindler of Houston, Raymond Schindler Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, Zachary Schindler of Willis, Scott DeLoach of Aurora, IL, and Debbi DeLoach of Irving; 13 great grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Moriah, Karly, Gray, Jazz, Madison, Noah, Nikki, Wesley, Brayden, Austin, Baylee. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Pallbearers: Raymond Schindler, Zachary Schindler, Jimmie Boozer, Thomas Brown, Butch Moore, and Lonie Mercer.
Funeral to be held on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Jerry King officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
