Funeral services for Clara Irene Kayga, 71, of Houston will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Robbie Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Boonetown Cemetery, Groveton, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2003 from 12 noon to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 9 p.m.
Mrs. Kayga was born on August 20, 1932 in Westville, Texas and passed away on October 5, 2003 in Houston, Texas. She was very proud of being the great-great-great niece of Daniel Boone.
Clara's husband of 49 years, C. L. Kayga; son, Timothy Kayga; daughter, Laura Kayga; and brother, Gerald Simmons, all preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Schoenemann and husband Paul of Willis; sons, Delton Kayga and wife Carol of Tomball and Steve Kayga and wife Linda of Albany; brothers, Chuck Simmons and wife Linda of The Woodlands and Noel Simmons and wife Sue of Houston; grandchildren, Kristen Merkett and husband Bob of Austin, Stephen Kayga and wife Michelle of Albany, Paul Kayga and wife Alicia of Spring, Brandon Ricketts of Houston, Ashley and Josh Schoenemann of Navasota, and Brandi Kayga of San Marcos; great grandchild, Blaine Kayga of Albany. A host of other loving extended family and friends also survive.
