James C. (Jay) Lewis, 77, of Willis, Texas, was born in Maud, Oklahoma on June 4, 1926 to Casey and Flora Lewis and passed away on October 19, 2003. He served his country during WWII in the Navy. A longtime Houston resident, Jay worked as a paint salesman for over 25 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Helen; son, Bryan Dwayne; daughter, Linda K. Johnson and husband Bruce; grandchildren, Scott and Jacee Thames, Leslie Lewis, and Brian Johnson; great grandchildren, Haley Lewis and Skyler Thames; many other relatives and lifelong friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Methodist Hospital, their doctors and staff for their care and compassion over the last 8 years that Jay was a lung transplant patient.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2003 at 2 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Jerry Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2003 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
