Funeral services for James A. Vaughn, 70, of Conroe will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Conroe with Dr. Charles Walton and Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mr. Vaughn was born on February 9, 1933 in Tallulah, Louisiana and passed away on November 16, 2003 in Conroe, Texas. He attended Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA. and Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Conroe for 34 years and a Deacon, and was a member of the Conroe Noon Lions and Conroe Evening Lions Club and the Toastmasters of Houston.
James' parents, Elmer O. and Marie Hill Vaughn of W. Monroe, LA preceded him in death. Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Barbara Vaughn of Conroe; daughter, Letitia Tish Patty of Montgomery; sons, Michael Vaughn and wife Dee Dee of Texarkana, Stacy Vaughn and wife Connie of Wiggins, MS, and James Kirk Vaughn and wife Jennifer of Coldspring; sister-in-law, Connie Patterson; brothers, Gardner Vaughn and wife Maurine of Leesville, LA and Reggie Vaughn of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Heather Vaughn, Matthew Vaughn, Katie Vaughn, Ben Bailey and Brandon Bailey, Amber Vaughn, Justin Vaughn, John Patty, Jimmy Patty, James Robert (Jim-Bob) Vaughn, Cody Vaughn, and Trevor Vaughn. Pallbearers: John Mays, Al Waldo, Chuck Day, Kenneth Burkhalter, Milton Pace, and Bill Barrick.
Honorary pallbearers: Happy Strings Ukulele Band, the Deacons of First Baptist Church, special friends from college The Southernaries, and close friend from Humble, Tom Tyner.
