Arpad M. Magyar, beloved husband and father was born January 24, 1929 in Eger, Hungary to Dr. Arpad and Gabriella Magyar and passed away on January 20, 2003 in Conroe, Texas of brain cancer.
Arpad is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hajalka Eve Magyar; daughter, Margerite Maggie Schoch; grandson, Kevin Schoch; future son-in-law, Alexander Unthank. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Arpad graduated with honors from Pazmany Peter University, Budapest, Hungary. He has resided in the United States since 1957. He was employed as a Research Chemist with Pennzoil in Cleveland, OH and as a Senior Research Associate Chemist with Pennzoil in Shreveport, LA and The Woodlands, TX until his retirement in 1990. His hobbies included listening to classical music, playing the piano, scuba diving, traveling, gardening and photography. Arpads joy in life was his deep love for his grandson, Kevin.
The family is thankful for the support of Joyce and Erwin Schoch, Terri and Joe Russo, Nancy and Joe Billings, JoAnn and Dolph Larson, Cindy and John Robinson, Dr. J. Kerschenbaum and his staff, and Crown of Texas Hospice.
A memorial service is scheduled for February 13, 2004 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 S. Panther Creek Dr., The Woodlands, TX at 4:30 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Meyers officiating.
