Chancy C. Connolly, Jr. (85) originally of R. R., Napoleon, Ohio, and later McAllen, Texas, died March 1, 2004, in Conroe Medical Center, Conroe, Texas. Born in Ohio in 1918, Dr. Connolly was the son of Chancy C. and Kathryn (Myers) Connolly, Sr. and the husband of Viola Ruth Moon, who predeceased him after 61 years of marriage.
Dr. Connolly is survived by his children, Sue (Norman) Clausen of Spring, TX, Patricia (Richard) Arens of Santa Fe, NM, Michael (Denise) Connolly of Plano, TX, and Ann (Charles) Loyd of Willis, TX. His son Thomas Connolly predeceased him.
His grandchildren are Linda (Kevin) Drachenberg of Houston, TX, Matthew Clausen of W. Monroe, LA, Andrew Clausen of Austin, TX, and Christopher and Jeni Ruth Loyd of Willis, TX.
His brother, Dr. J. Eugene (Marcey) Connolly of Franklin Park, IL and his sister, Alice Campbell of Ypsilanti, MI, survive him. His brother, Thomas Charles Connolly, predeceased him.
Dr. Connolly graduated from McClure High School in McClure, Ohio in 1936 and served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, when he was honorably discharged. He attended Ohio State University, where he completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics in 1968. That same year he and his family moved to Texas, where Dr. Connolly worked as a research scientist for Texas A & M University at the Universitys Extension Center in Weslaco. In 1974, Dr. Connolly became resident director of the Center. He retired from Texas A & M University in 1988.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in Conroe Bible Church, 4491 I45 North, Conroe, TX. Burial will be in Hockman Cemetery, McClure, Ohio with a graveside service on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Texas S. E. Alzheimer Association, 2909 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025.
