Horace "Pete" Allen Holmes, 85, a lifelong Montgomery County resident, passed away, Saturday, March 27, 2004. He was born in the Bethel Community, near Montgomery, Texas on October 6, 1918.
Horace graduated from Montgomery High School in 1936. He was a disabled veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Tech Sgt.
Horace was a past owner of H & B Body Shop in Conroe and the Dandee Dog in Willis. He finished his working days at Sparkler Mfg. and Borden Metals in Conroe.
Horace was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn Kellar Holmes; parents, Sam and Ada Holmes; brothers, Leo Holmes and Fred Holmes; and sister, Sallie Holmes Turner. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Golding and son-in-law J.M. Golding; son, Harold Arnold Holmes and daughter-in-law, Kim Holmes; son, Ronnie Allen Holmes; grandchildren, Danni Jo Golding, Penni Golding Biehl, Ronnie A. Holmes, Jr., Desiree Holmes, Jeremy Holmes and great-grandchildren, Madison Golding, Brady Biehl and Zachary Biehl.
Funeral services will be held, 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in the Cashner Colonial Chapel, with Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating. Interment to follow at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Johnson, Charles Kellar, Gary Caesar and Craig Caesar. Pallbearers: Chad Sullivan, Jerry F. Shepard, Jerry N. Shepard, Lonnie Dickey, Jimmie Dominguez and Phillip Placencia.
