Eli Jackson E.J. Butler, Jr., 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather entered peacefully into eternal life surrounded by family on August 23, 2004 at the age of 87. He was born in Trinity County, Texas on December 26, 1916.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a founding member of Champions Country Club and loved the game of golf. In addition, he was an avid sports fan and storyteller that would keep you on the edge of your seat for hours.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eli Jackson Butler, Sr. and Miriam Cynthia Butler; daughter, Cynthia Dee Butler; as well as numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Butler; son, Bobby D. Butler, Sr. and wife Mary Jo; daughter, Denise Butler-Owen and husband Dennis; step-daughter, Michelle Lee Smith and husband Wayne; sister, Marjorie Butler Claybrook and husband Kenneth; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Affectionately known to his family as Paw Paw he will be deeply missed and forever in their hearts. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and/or their respective spouses.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004 in Cashner Colonial Chapel with interment to follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
