Funeral services for Linda Meador Hooper will be held on Friday, September 17, in the year of our Lord, 2004, at 1 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel. Interment will be in Garden Park Cemetery following the service. Visitation is Thursday, September 16, 2004 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hooper was born January 18, 1927 in Huntsville, Texas to longtime Montgomery County residents Jesse L. Meador and Ruth Smith Meador, and died peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2004 in Conroe, Texas of Alzheimers complications.
Mrs. Hooper held a B.A. in Art from Texas State College for Women (presently Texas Womans University) - Denton, TX, and served several years as a Director for Citadel Bank-Conroe, TX.
Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Francis A. Meador and Mary R. Meador; and by her husband of 48 years, W. T. Bud Hooper, longtime Conroe Attorney, business leader, and Conroe Mayor. Mrs. Hooper is survived by her daughter, Laurie Hooper Groeschel of Conroe; sons, Terrell Hooper and David N. Hooper, both of Conroe; grandchildren, Grant Groeschel of Houston, Evan Groeschel of Conroe, Meredith Groeschel of Austin, and Amelia Groeschel of Nacogdoches. Nieces, Cynthia Frerichs of Valley Mills, Ann Hardy of New Waverly, Terry Hite and Tracy Irvine both of Conroe, nephews, Jay Ross Martin and Guy N. Martin, both of Conroe, also survive as well as numerous cousins.
Pallbearers are Claude Fair, Evan Groeschel, Grant Groeschel, Phil Groeschel, Bill Meador, and Mike Meador. Honorary Pallbearers are The Cheerleaders, a spirited group of erstwhile Willis High School girls which, beginning in the mid-1980s, met monthly for fun, food, and fellowship. It includes, but is not limited to, Beth Bailey, Lillian Behrens, Doris Carew, Peggy Fowler, Mattie Lou Hulon, Ruby Knox, Poodle Meador, Prissy Morrison, Nardine Muehr, Chelo Palmer, Malu Parrish, Minnie Carl Phillips, and Annie Marl Traylor.
The family humbly thanks longtime dedicated caregivers, Josefina Gabino and Claudia Gabino.
