Funeral services for Jimmie Nell Smith, 66, of New Caney will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Earl Jose officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers: Billy Emmons, Richard McClean, Paul McKeehan, Hugo Silva, Dutch Taylor, and Joe Linch. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 16, 2004 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 11, 1938 in Kilgore, Texas and passed away on September 14, 2004 in Conroe, Texas. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1956. In August of 1960, she married Ellis H. Smith of Monticello, Kentucky and they recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. Jimmie and Ellis were blessed with three loving children and nine grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember Jimmie for the beautiful and intricate handmade afghans, embroidered towels, and other handmade gifts each made with stitches of love. Having retired 10 years ago, Jimmie and Ellis traveled throughout the United States enjoying the beauty of our Country and the warm friendship of the many fellow RV travelers they have met along the way. They have also shared many hours together gardening, canning, and enjoying time spent at cookouts with family and friends.
Jimmie's father, James H. (John) Brown, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Ellis H. Smith; children, Steve Smith and wife Annie, Kelley Smith and wife Claudia, Jennifer Dunning and husband Chris; grandchildren, Justin, Sharon Elyse, Josh, Chardaet, Randy, Kendra, Shelly, Christy, and Brandy; mother, Ida Brown; sister, Sharon Brown; brother, Jerry Brown and wife Linda; sister-in-law Ninnie and husband Adeline Coffey. Numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends also survive.
