Robert Bob Tinder of Willis, Texas passed away September 28, 2004 in Conroe, Texas after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. He was born January 12th, 1929 in Jordan, West Virginia to the late Ronald Earl and Ida Baxa Tinder. As per his wishes, Bob was cremated.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Charles Downey officiating. Following the service, inurnment will be at the VA Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Bob served his country in the Air Force from 1945 to 1967. He retired after 22 years. He was stationed at many stateside bases including Hawaii where he and his family spent three years. Oversea bases included Johnson Island Hawaii 1946-1948, Guam 1949-1951, Saudi Arabia 1953-1954, Korea 1956-1957, Germany 1959-1962. After retiring, he and his family settled in Houston, Texas in 1967. While there, he worked for Control Data Computer Company. After working for 20 years, he retired in 1987. He and his family moved to Willis, Texas in 1993. He loved the outdoors, was a golfer, manager of Little League teams, loved to fish and garden.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Mary Lee DeVault Tinder of 52 years and 11 months; daughter, Roberta Elmore and husband Neal; son, Ronald and wife Benita; grandchildren, Melanie Elmore Parker, Jennifer Elmore Dowdy and husband Jason, and Wesley Elmore; great grandsons, Cory Parker and Joshua Dowdy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Wayne, Earl Jr. and Verlin. We will always remember his crooked grin and the twinkle in his eye.
