William "Billie" Albert Traylor entered into rest on December 6, 2004 at the age of 93. He was born on December 3, 1911 in New Waverly, Texas, the youngest of eight children. Billie and Margaret McHaney were married on September 13, 1941. When Margaret could no longer care for herself, he assumed the role as her caregiver with love and the determination to endure as long as Margaret needed him. Margaret died on June 1, 2004.
Billie was an educator for most of his working life. He began his educational career as a Math teacher in New Waverly. For four years, he served as Superintendent of the New Waverly School District. He became the first full time counselor at Conroe High in 1962.
Billie was a fifty year member of the John Sims Masonic Lodge #458 in New Waverly where he served as a past master.
In addition to his love of hunting and fishing, Billie, along with Margaret, always maintained a beautiful yard. His other passion was traveling the countryside with Margaret or as he called it - prowling.
He is survived by one son, Bill, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Montgomery, Texas; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca and Scott Dowd of Austin, Texas and Jeffrey and Pamela Traylor of Parker, Colorado. Five great grandchildren also added to his life, Travis, Alexandra, and Kendall Dowd, and Janie Marie and Robert Traylor.
The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Cashner Funeral Home. Services will be held in Cashner Colonial Chapel on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gene Rotramel and Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating.
