Funeral services for Syble Myrtis Vick, 89, of Brenham will be held on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Steve Ponder officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home. There will also be a memorial service on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Brenham.
Mrs. Vick was born on September 15, 1915 in Lufkin, Texas and passed away on January 18, 2005 in Brenham, Texas. She was a former longtime member of First Baptist Church of Conroe and also of Mims Baptist Church, and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Brenham and the Joy Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School at the Brenham Rest Home.
Syble's husband, James Lubie Vick; son-in-law, Donald Reiland; and sister, Loyce Cartwright, all preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Vick Carter and husband Jimmy of Austin, and Marvalyn Reiland of Brenham; sisters, Joyce Gilbert White and husband JD of Dickinson, and Hortense Gilbert Fisher and husband Bill of Austin; brother, Alton Lee Gilbert and wife Nona of Kingsland; grandchildren, Sabrina Carter Dean of Austin, Ragina Carter Martin and husband Ron of Whitehouse, and Kelly Vick Carter and wife Diane of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Andrea Dean Fortner of Killeen, Erica Dean of Austin, Nathan Dean of Austin, Caleb Dean of Lubbock, Danielle Dean of Austin, Rayna Dean of Austin, Alisha Martin of Whitehouse, Andrew Martin of Whitehouse, Carson Carter of San Antonio, Casey Carter of San Antonio; great-great grandchildren, Sara Fortner and Raychel Fortner, both of Killeen. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
