Funeral services for Grace LaNelle Moore Peacock, 75, of Conroe, Texas will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Conroe with Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating, Interment to follow at Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 3, 2005 from 5:00 pm till 9:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home.
Grace LaNella Moore Peacock was born January 9, 1930, in Forsan, Texas to Orville and Adeline Miller Moore. The family moved to Ward County, Texas where Lanella stared to school and graduated from Grandfalls-Royalty High School. She attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and North Texas State University in Denton where she met the love of her life, Darnell Peacock. They were married on June 9, 1950, and enjoyed 47 years together.
LaNelle was a fulltime homemaker and mother to their two sons, Ed and Jon, until they started to school. At that time, she went back to college and pursued a degree in Elementary Education. She graduated from Sam Houston State University. She taught math and science in the Conroe School System for more than 20 years.
LaNeele and her husband owned and published OFFSHORE DRILLING magazine and traveled extensively, interviewing and collecting newsworthy material. She was an active member of the Esther Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and also a member of the Performing Arts Society. LeNelle enjoyed golf and travel. She was a member of Panorama Country Club and recently modeled at a ladies association luncheon. She was a member of Assistance League of Montgomery County and worked with Operation School Bell, serving as Editor of the Newsletter Committee for several years.
LeNelle was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by two sons: Jon Peacock of Lago Vista, Texas and Ed Peacock and wife Clara of Jonestown, Texas, Two grandchildren; Anne Schulz and husband Walker of Cotulla, Texas and Quinne Peacock of Jonestown, Texas, one great granddaughter, Lillian Grace Schulz of Cotulla, Texas; her two brothers and their wives, Don and Donna Moore and Phil and Sheryl Moore, all of Amarillo, Texas; several nieces, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.
