Graveside service for loving husband, father, and friend, James Thomas Sanders, 80, of Montgomery will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2005 at 10 a.m. in New Montgomery Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in Montgomery United Methodist Church with Chaplain Hiram Jones and Rev. Billy Webb officiating.
Mr. Sanders was born on July 28, 1924 in Montgomery, Texas and passed away on June 13, 2005 in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Army as a pastry chef where he won several awards. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School in 1940 and was a member of the Montgomery High School marching band. He was a member of the Shriners and was also a 32nd degree Mason at the Masonic Lodge #25 of Montgomery. He was a musician and loved gardening, fishing, and gambling.
James' wife, Helen Louise Fowler Sanders, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Norma Joyce Montgomery of Montgomery; brother, Howard N. Sanders and wife Billy Marie of Montgomery; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Billy Vinson of Dobbin; nieces, Maureen Sanders and husband George of New Caney, Ann Knight and husband Larry of Houston, Irene Smith of Houston, and Donna and husband Vern; nephews, Neal Sanders and wife Julia, and Mark Sanders and wife Pam, all of Montgomery; special friends, Margaret Horton and Darlene Walls both of Montgomery, and Mary Mudry of Houston.
