Mrs. Henderson was born on December 17, 1917 in Ringgold, Louisiana to the late Rev. Ezekiel and Eve Knowlie-Henson. At an early age, Vera accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Vera attended Southern School for the Deaf in Scottville, LA at a late age. Young Vera met Archie Lee Henderson and they were united in holy matrimony in June, 1944. To this union, three children were born. Vera united with the Lutheran Church for the Deaf, where she remained faithful until she was called home to be with the Lord. She was loved by many who knew her. She was well known for her talents, friendliness, sweetness, loveliness and commitment to her family, friends and community. She was a very peaceful woman. Although she had multiple health problems later in life, her conversation was always to give praise to God. She would always say prayers.

Vera was preceded in death by both parents, her husband of 54 years, Archie Lee Henderson, and a brother, Frederick Henson. Forever cherishing her memory are her three daughters, Martha Lee Malone of Tomball, Willie (Tammy) Sellers and husband Fred of Houston, and Betty Mae Henderson of Upper Darby, PA; two sisters, Johnessie Lowe of Houston, and Betty Jean Mosley of San Diego, CA; two brothers, Douglas Henson of Houston, Theodore Henson of Shreveport, LA; sister-in-law, Ruby Lee Woods; brother-in-law, Sollie Jackson Sr.; four grandchildren, Regina Littlejohn (Mizzay) of Philadelphia, PA, Detro Thompkins, Jr. (Janice) of Rogers, AR, Stevens Thompkins (Suzelle) of Tomball, and Mack Malone Jr. (Tessie) of The Woodlands; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved and adored her.
