Funeral services for Robert Gene McDonald, 65, of Old Waverly, will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2005 in Cashner Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Dearing Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2005 at Cashner Funeral Home.
Gene was born December 15, 1939 in Redwater, TX and passed away June 25, 2005 in Old Waverly, TX. Mr. McDonald was self employed in the forestry industry for forty-five years. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and continued to work until three weeks ago. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of forty-four years, Ellise McDonald of Old Waverly; daughter, Kelly McDonald and special friend John Carter of Huntsville; son, Keith McDonald and wife Sally of Old Waverly; mother, Catherine McDonald of Old Waverly; sisters, June Peel of Old Waverly, Louise Smith and husband Mike of Conroe, and Syble Whitfield and husband Larry of Frankson; brothers, Kenneth McDonald and wife Tommie of Old Waverly, Jerry McDonald and wife Louise of Old Waverly, and Dale McDonald and wife Laurie of Willis; grandchildren, Ben McDonald of Old Waverly, Hannah McDonald of Old Waverly, and Hal Bazar and fiancée Krystal Samuels of New Waverly; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jack Duke, Jimmy Wilson, Donnie Hodge, Ben McDonald, Bubba Hardy, Mike Fuller, Brad Smith and Hal Bazar. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Baylor, Jerry McDonald, Kenneth McDonald, Larry Whitfield, Billy Joe Acreman, Dale McDonald, Mike Smith and all remaining McDonald Logging woods crew members.
