Alice M. Fewell went to be with the Lord on August 24, 2005; and the light of her loving personality will live forever in our hearts.
She was born on January 1, 1921 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the New Year baby of 1921. Known by many as Little Bit because of her diminutive stature and Auntie to her family, Alice was beloved by all. Her gift of teaching was recognized early as she taught Bible School. As a graduate of Stephen F. Austin College with a masters degree from Texas Womens University, she moved to Conroe to teach. For thirty-three years she taught second grade at Sam Houston Elementary School. The major focus of her life, however, was her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and it permeated all that she did. She loved people and she gave of herself in so many unselfish and helpful ways. As a member of First Baptist Church of Conroe, she was very active in the seniors program and was a charter member of their Ukulele Band. She was active in the retired teachers association, her birthday club and she loved gardening and animals.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, George and Nancy Fewell, and her sister Martha Fuson and brother-in-law Earl Fuson. She is survived by her nephew George Fuson and his wife Christine Smith, her niece Nancy Griffin and her husband Michael and their two sons, Sean and Patrick.
The Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church Conroe at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2005, and the family will receive friends at a reception following in the Fellowship Hall. The family would like to say a special thanks to a saintly friend, Cecile Griffith, and all care givers.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to First Baptist Church Conroe or the charity of your choice.
