Charles Edward Roe
July 26, 1921 - September 18, 2005

Charles Edward Roe was born in Mamou, Louisiana, on July 26, 1921 and passed away in Conroe, Texas on September 18, 2005. Two brothers and his parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Evelyn Dickson Roe; one daughter, Helen Jackson and husband Ken; one son, Charles Eugene “Gene” Roe and wife Tami; seven grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, and Shannon Colvin, Kyndal and Haili Jackson, Catherine and Melanie Roe; one brother, Robert Roe and wife Louise; one sister, Hazel Parker; sister-in-law, Laverne Roe. Many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends also survive. Pallbearers: Brandon Colvin, Justin Colvin, John Dickson, Paul Dickson, Mike Doucet, and Gene Roe. Honorary pallbearers: Bruce Frazier, Virgil Gerlach, Harold Hagan, Robert Harvill, Keith Kern, Wally McAfee, Norris Miley, George Plummer, W. P. Sibley, John Underwood, Charlie Van Derbur, and Doc Zuspan, as well as all of his golfing friends.

Charles served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 until 1946, was a graduate of Louisiana State University, and was employed by Shell Oil Company from 1948 until retirement in 1983. He worked for Shell in several cities, including Houston, New Orleans, New York, Calgary, and the Los Angeles area. He was a charter member of River Plantation Country Club and served on the board of the River Plantation Municipal Utility District, River Plantation Homeowners Association, and the Magnolia Bend Volunteer Fire Department. His joy in life included his family and their activities, golfing with friends, and participation in civic duties, including many local elections.

Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21st, 2005 with Rev. Bill Taylor and Rev. Bob Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visiting hour for friends will be held at Cashner Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, September 20th, 2005 from 6 to 9 p.m.
