Funeral services for Robert Carlton RC Smith, 87, of Conroe will be held on Monday, December 5, 2005 at 3 p.m. in Mims Baptist Church with Brother Kenneth Kelly and Rev. Vince Yearwood officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 4, 2005 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born on June 23, 1918 in Brookeland, Texas and passed away on December 2, 2005 in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry and the Army Air Corps. He moved to Conroe 77 years ago on November 28, 1928. Mr. Smith was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and a Master Mason with the Conroe Lodge #748 for 50 years. He attained his master plumbing license in 1946 and started Smith Plumbing Company the same year.
Carlton's grandson, Reagan Carlton Smith, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Marie Smith of Conroe; sons, Robert David Smith and wife Peggy, Michael Carlton Smith and wife Louise, and Gene Edward Smith and wife Theresa, all of Conroe; sister, Grace Pierce of Conroe; grandchildren, Marc Smith and wife Jennifer, Kristin Baker and husband Breck, Holly Bowles and husband Robert, Angie Reed and husband Carl, Bradley Smith, Jeff Smith and wife Rhondi, Randall Smith and wife Cheryl, Gentry Smith, and Austin Smith; and eleven great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. Pallbearers will be Marc Smith, Bradley Smith, Randall Smith, Jeff Smith, Austin Smith, Carl Reed, Robert Bowles, and Breck Baker.
