Funeral services for Ruby Lee Tolliver, 83, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and Christian of Conroe will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Lynch officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14, 2005 from 5 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tolliver was born on May 29, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas and passed away on December 12, 2005 in The Woodlands, Texas. After her children were raised, she traveled extensively with her husband to many different job locations. While he was working, she was actively pursuing her favorite pastime, writing. She went on to publish 13 juvenile and young adult books. One of these books, Muddy Banks, is still being used in Texas History classes in various school districts throughout the state. She traveled statewide speaking to students in many schools about her books and writing in general. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church for 58 years and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. For many years, she worked with various nationalities in ESL programs.
Ruby's husband, B. H. Tolliver, Jr., and her brother, James Changos, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Wright of Beaumont and Dotty Brown and husband Larry of Conroe; son, Steve Tolliver and wife Gail of Boerne; sisters, Olga Pate of Houston and Margaret Pawlowski and husband Robert of Conroe; grandchildren, Shannon Krueger and husband Jason, Danny Wright, Andy Brown and wife Kimberly, Courtney Brown, Kyle Clark, and Will Tolliver; and great grandchild, Tripp Brown. Pallbearers: Danny Wright, Andy Brown, Will Tolliver, Kyle Clark, Jason Krueger, and Bobby Pawlowski.
