Cora Mitchell was a resident of Conroe for over fifty years. The last three years of her life were spent in Pilot Point, Texas.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Jacob Vernon Mitchell. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Judy Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dr. Walter Heichman; and daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ruth and Dr. Steve King. Eight grandchildren, Kelly Mitchell Parish, Kimberly Mitchell Rogers, Kyle Mitchell, Stephen Craigen, Michael Craigen, Stephanie King Brimhall, Melissa King, and Mitchell King adored their Granny. Eleven great-grandchildren blessed her life. Mitchell served in the nursery of First Baptist Church, Conroe, for over twenty-five years, enriching the lives of two generations of other children.
Cora's family and friends adored her, but her legacy was greater than that. It was her ability to touch the hearts of everyone she met through her grace and strength and bring out their best that defined her life. Everyone who knew her loved her.
Pallbearers are Bob Parish, Stephen Craigen, Curt Rogers, Kyle Mitchell, Michael Craigen, Dave Brimhall, and Mitchell King.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Dr. Cliff Herrington officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the sunroom after interment.
To honor her love of children and books, instead of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the childrens section of a church, community or school library.
