Funeral services for J. D. Austin, 62, of Conroe will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 10 a.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Kathy McEntire officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Whitehouse Cemetery, Lufkin, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
J.D. was born in Lufkin, Texas on November 23, 1943 and passed away in Conroe on January 18, 2006. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He loved hunting and fishing, and believed the outdoors was his church and was most at peace when outdoors. J.D. was a member of the San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #106 in Willis, Texas, The Scottish Rites, and the Arabian Shrine Temple of Houston.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sandra Austin of Conroe; son, James Austin and wife Lacy of Willis; sisters, Bethel Hollingsworth and husband Lonnie of Lufkin, Joyce Lakey and husband James of Etoile, and Juanita Martin and husband George of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Rosa Lee McDowell of Killeen; brothers, Ray Austin and wife Glenda of Lufkin, and Henry Austin and girlfriend Wendy Jones of Dalhart; brother-in-law, Michael Cargill and wife Kay of Willis; grandchildren, Nicole Austin and Kaleigh Branson; and Goddaughter, Bari Lee Dowdy. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
