Ray Montgomery passed away on February 26, 2006 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 96.
Ray was born January 6, 1910 in Cleburne, Texas and moved soon thereafter to Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. He received his schooling in Oklahoma and then moved to Hart Camp, Texas with his family. It was there he met Eva Kendall and they married June 16, 1935. They moved to Olton, Texas where they farmed and ranched more than 25 years. In 1978, they moved to Conroe, Texas where they lived until their deaths. Ray and Eva were longtime members of the First Baptist Church in Olton and the Woodland Place Baptist Church near Magnolia, Texas.
Ray is survived by his son, Paul Montgomery and wife Beverly of Conroe; grandchildren, Desirae Gregg and husband Kenneth of Spring and Kyle Montgomery and wife Lynn of Leander; great grandchildren, Carson Montgomery, Lauren and Erin Gregg, and Ian and Kellan Gregg; brother, John Montgomery of Olton. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Pallbearers are Ed Jones, Wayne Herring, Max Holland, Chris Jones, Moody Phillips, and Austin Karr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 3 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Rev. Tim Keith officiating. Interment will follow in Garden Park Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Cashner Funeral Home.
