A memorial mass for Loretta Theresa Card, 78, of Willis, Texas will be celebrated on Thursday, March 30th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Wilton, CT with Father Michael Palmer and Father Roy Henderson officiating.
Mrs. Card was born on August 6, 1927 in Bridgeport, CT and passed away on March 10, 2006 in Willis, Texas. Prior to moving to Texas to be with her daughter and family in November of 2003, she spent her life in Connecticut where she enjoyed playing dominoes with her sister, Mary, on Sunday afternoons, going to luncheons every Wednesday with her good friend, Dolores Monteleone, at the Ogden Seniors House in Wilton, CT, and playing bingo every Thursday with the Wilton Senior Citizens group. She was a long standing member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Wilton, CT.
Loretta retired from Hanson Publishing Company in Stamford, CT. She volunteered for many years with the American Heart Association. She loved ballroom dancing and was an avid gardener. Loretta was a long time seamstress and many people today across the U.S. and England are enjoying her custom-made Old World Santas. After her move to Texas, she became a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in New Waverly, TX and a member of the Friendship Center in Conroe, TX. She also enjoyed playing bingo at various locations in Montgomery County.
Her husband, Curtis B. Clifford; parents, Leon Charles Card and Elizabeth Troy Card; brothers, Bradley Card of Tallahassee, FL and Everett Card of Broomfield, CO; sister, Elizabeth Card Kucharski of Long Island, NY; and sister-in-law, Eileen Card of Lakewood, CO, all preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Cathryn Homeyer and husband Gregory of Willis, TX; sons, Leon Clifford and wife Leslie of Florence, KY, Curtis Clifford and wife Ellen of Stamford, CT, and Charles Clifford and wife Patricia of Charlotte, NC; special daughter, Alexandria Confalone of Hillsboro, NH; grandchildren, Bryan Clifford and wife Jennifer of Antrim, NH, Kimberly Clifford of Stamford, CT, Leon Clifford Jr. of Erlanger, KY, Elizabeth Wood of Portland, OR, Rebecca and Matthew Clifford of Florence, KY, Justin and Cameron Homeyer of College Station, TX, Brittany Clifford of Charlotte, NC, and future granddaughter, Rachel Searle (Justins fiancé) of College Station, TX; great grandchildren, Devin and Brenna Clifford of Antrim, NH; sisters and brothers, Sister Mary Jane Card of Wilton, CT, Sister Leona Card of Alliance, NE, James Card of Lakewood, CO, Ruth Basinet of Denver, CO, Paul Card and wife Mae of Center Barnstead, NH, Santa (John) Card and wife Ann of Golden, CO, and Richard Card and wife Cecile of Milford, CT; sister-in-law, Geri Card of Broomfield, CO. Numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association and the Arthritis Foundation to help find a cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
